Part of an important redevelopment project, the City Passage in Bielefeld, inaugurated in 1977, was turned into a modern and attractive shopping centre with around 110 shops in late 2017, with a sales surface of around 26,000 m2.
The showpiece of the project is a covered elliptical plaza with an impressive glass dome. A 26-metre-long escalator comfortably connects the ground floor to the food court and car parks. A view from the skyward escalator gives visitors an extraordinary impression of the spacious interior design. LOOM has an average of 35,000 visitors per day.
The architecture firm ECE Hamburg decided to use the "Urban" ceramic surface series by Porcelaingres for an area covering 5,500 square metres.
The Bielefeld project used the collection’s 60×60 cm format in the colours:
- Urban Dove;
- Urban Grey;
- Urban Ivory.
The Urban and Urban Great series in porcelain stoneware come in an extensive range of colours alternating warm and cold shades to give shape to creativity, enhancing architectural projects with new and stimulating colour combinations.
New to the Urban collection is the format 100×100 in 2 cm, available in colours Urban Anthracite, Urban Grey and Urban Ivory. The series covers the R11 A+B surfaces with formats 120×60, 60×60, 60×30 in all colours.
The many formats and thicknesses of these ceramics ensure versatility for the creation of architectural projects maintaining a harmonious stylistic continuity between indoors and outdoors.
With its six colours, six formats and three thicknesses, Urban is absolutely one of the most complete and versatile collections in the Porcelaingres range.

Wie ein anmutiger Rauchwirbel ziert dieser authentische Farbton mit seinen nuancenreichen Schleiern aus grau moderne Böden und Wände. Dabei überzeugt das lebhafte Farbspiel sowohl im Innenbereich als auch außen. Für ein puristisch oder auch farbenfroh gestaltetes Ambiente liefert Smoke den soliden, sachlichen, aber auch spannenden Untergrund. Sämtliche Materialschichten der Full-Body-Fliese bestehen aus hochwertigem Feinsteinzeug. Das macht sie nicht nur ausgesprochen edel, sondern auch besonders widerstandsfähig. Die 20mm dicke Variante ist außerdem mit einer besonders glatten Oberfläche erhältlich - für eine noch intensivere Färbung.
