Bielefeld | Germany | 2017

As part of a major renovation project, the City Passage in Bielefeld, which opened in 1977, was converted into a modern and attractive shopping centre with approx. 110 shops at the end of 2017, with a sales area of around 26,000 sqm.
The showpiece of the project is an elliptical plaza spanned by an imposing glass dome. A 26 metre long escalator makes a comfortable connection from the ground floor to the food court and the parking levels. A view from the skyward escalator gives visitors an extraordinary impression of the spacious interior design. In total, the LOOM is visited by an average of around 35,000 guests per day.
The exporting architecture office ECE Hamburg decided on an area of 5,500 square metres for the "Urban" porcelain stoneware series from the German tile manufacturer Porcelaingres, which has its roots in Italy. The collection was used in Bielefeld in the 60 × 60 cm format and in the colours Urban Dove, Urban Grey, Urban Ivory.
The Urban and Urban Great porcelain stoneware series are characterised by an extensive range of colours in which warm and cold colours alternate to give shape to creative ideas and to enrich the architectural projects with new stimulating colour combinations.
A new addition to the Urban collection is the 100 × 100 format in 2 cm - available in the colours Urban Anthracite, Urban Grey, Urban Ivory. The series covers the R11 A+B surfaces in the formats 120 × 60, 60 × 60, 60 × 30 in all colours.
The numerous formats and strengths promote versatility and allow the implementation of architectural projects which maintain a harmonious stylistic continuity between indoors and outdoors. With its six colours, six sizes and three strengths, Urban is one of the most complete and versatile collections in the Porcelaingres range.
